Croton Water Treatment Plant Above Ground Structure is a 32 acre urban sustainability project. Being located in the golf course and park, the project includes operational buildings that are related to the water treatment plant below grade, 13 acre green roof driving range, netting pole structure, clubhouse, and storm water management system. The storm water management system aims zero black water out to city sewage by having a closed loop. The retaining walls and constructed wetland cells are carefully designed for security and as parts of landscape. Retaining wall patterns decode the function of themselves from pure retaining walls to building walls inspired by striated earth patterns.
Having its driving range as a 13 acre green roof on the top of water treatment plant, the Mosholu Golf Course Clubhouse functions as the final destination for recycled storm water system and used for irrigation of the driving range. The water feature with constructed wetland cells and green roof driving range can be viewed from the roof deck of the clubhouse, which will be opened to the public for events by local residents or outdoor classes for local students.
Being located inside the Van Cortlandt Park in Bronx, the clubhouse is designed as a part of the landscape - a green roof rising from the ground. The natural materials such as wood and stone have been chosen accordingly. The gfrc eave cladded with wood panels beneath the green roof and the clean facade accentuate the floating roof rising from the ground. This was achieved by an innovative ventilation system through perforated wood panels with ventilation louvers inside.
